Ready for summer to start? I guess that’s a lame question. Ready for fall or winter? Yeah not always. But everyone’s down for summer, right?
We’ve had an unusually warm and sunny spring here in the Pacific northwest and it feels like summer already started several weeks ago. I’ve been busting out my ice cream machine, popsicle maker, and even soaking up some vitamin D for the first time in like 10 months. As much as I appreciate a break from the rainy season, I think the best thing about summer is obviously the food. Farmers markets brimming with peaches and strawberries that you can smell from a distance, blackberries growing on hiking trails, barbecues and lemonade and campfires and all manner of frozen and fruity desserts. I’m there.
Here’s a little roundup (ew, wait, no—not that kind of RoundUp! Get out of my brain, Monsatan) of some sweet & simple summery treats I wanted to share from a few of my favorite blogging buddies. Which ones would you love to kick off your summer with? (I think I’m gonna go for those coconut strawberries!)

Hi Emily,
Just wanted to let you know that I nominated you for the Dragon’s Loyalty Award. If you don’t know about the award, check out my blog post about it here: http://theartofcare.weebly.com/kiss/the-dragons-loyalty-award
I nominated you because I have been reading your blog and you seem to have a lot of the same views about food and eating that I do. I also think your blog is a great resource for other home cooks.
Keep up the great work!
Sandra
